How does this medicine work? What will it do for me?

amoxilamoxicillin(Augmentin) is used to treat a variety of infections caused by bacteria or parasites. Augmentin is a combination antibiotic which belongs to a class of drugs called tetracyclines. These drugs work by killing or stopping the growth of the bacteria or parasites that cause infection.

Amoxil can also be used to treat urinary tract infections, bronchitis, and infections of the skin and soft tissue. If your infection is caused by a bacterium, you may need to use antibiotics to treat it. This medicine is not recommended for children under age 6 or pregnant women.

This medication is not recommended for children under 6 years old. This medicine is not used to prevent or treat illnesses such as kidney stones (kidney infection) or lung infections.

This medicine is not recommended for use in children under 6 years old.

This medicine may be available under other brand names or different from the original product.

How should I use this medicine?

Take Amoxil exactly as it was prescribed for you. Follow the directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. You may take your medicine with or without food. Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine unless your doctor directs you otherwise.

For best results, take Amoxil with or after food. Take Amoxil at least 1 hour before or after taking the tablets.

If you miss a dose of Amoxil, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Warnings:Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Stop using this medicine and call your doctor right away if you have any of the following medical conditions: You have a history of severe liver problems, including cirrhosis (vascular event), who has not been studied, and who is taking beta-blockers like Norco or Norfloxacin. You have a small kidney problem, which can cause kidney problems. You have a history of seizures. You have a history of irregular heart rate or rhythm. You have a history of allergy or intolerance to any other anti-inflammatory medication. You have a history of liver disease. You have a history of galactose intolerance. You have low levels of glucose (a sugar that does not help your body process glucose). You have a severe kidney problem, which can cause kidney problems.
